Hyundai Elevator, the Advent of a New Era of Cheongju

2022-02-07
- Smart factories, R&D facilities, distribution centers, office buildings, and welfare facilities built on a 173,097㎡ campus
- Strengthened customer responsiveness with integrated management from goods receipt to shipping, ICT, and big data technology

Hyundai Elevator (Seung-Bong Song, CEO) announced the beginning of a new era of Cheongju on the 7th after completing its relocation to the Smart Campus in the 5th General Industrial Complex in Cheongju (Yongtan-dong, Cheongju).
The Smart Campus, built on a total area of 173,097㎡, includes the production line, including the sheet metal, assembly, and traction machine(TM) buildings. The campus also accommodates distribution centers, R&D centers, office buildings, executive and employee welfare facilities, dormitories, and more. Notably, a Manufacturing Engineering System (MES) has been applied on the production line to assure competitiveness in the global manufacturing market, and a systematic connection among system, equipment, workers, and ICT is expected to strengthen customer responsiveness.
The company expects to reduce the lead time from order receipt to shipping by integrating the production line and distribution center previously managed in Icheon and Cheonan respectively. The entire process will be monitored in real-time to provide rapid responses. The production capacity reaches 25,000 units per year.
Hyundai Elevator’s CEO, Seung-Bong Song, said that “the introduction of the 4th Industrial Revolution technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), big data, and artificial intelligence will provide a solid foundation for Hyundai Elevator’s second leap” and added that “we will do our best to grow beyond the position of being first in Korea to become a global leader.”
