Designer’s Edition, Untact, Connected Technology…

2021-09-13
- The very first unveiling of design in collaboration with Britain’s star designer Chris Lefteri
- Introduces the untact technology, robot linkage, face recognition-smart display

Hyundai Elevator (CEO Song, Seung-bong) announced that it would unveil the four types of designer's edition, Chris Lefteri Design (CLD), in collaboration with Britain's star designer Chris Lefteri, at the 2021 Korea International Elevator Expo, held on the 14th through the 16th of this month, in Hall 5 of the 1st Exhibition Hall at KINTEX (Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do). Along with this unveiling of the new design, Hyundai Elevator will publicly introduce its “vertical e-mobility” technology that consists of untact technology, robot linkage, face recognition-smart display linkage technology, and many other unprecedented technologies led by Hyundai Elevator.
The Designer’s Edition “CLD” is an unparalleled attempt in the history of the elevator industry, which mostly set focus on performance and safety. In collaboration with Chris Lefteri, a world-renowned expert with significant influence in the field of design and materials, Hyundai Elevator’s new attempt is expected to gain more fame, working with many leading global companies involving Dupont, Land Rover, Jaguar, and Philips that will connect the design and manufacturing industry with innovative materials.
CLD consists of 4 different concepts: the “Luxury Journey” theme that conveys the elegance of a lavish holiday, the “Boutique” theme that creates an image of a luxury boutique hotel lobby, the “an Elevator as Project” theme that emphasizes an elevator not as a mere part of a building, but as a unique space in itself, and finally, the “Emotional Shelter” theme, a space of retreat in which a passenger can relax in the moment.
“Prior to this collaboration, I gave it much thought in considering what an elevator can mean in our lives,” said Lefteri. He highlighted that “we’ve thought about an elevator as a 3rd space that is neither home nor work, a space between these environments, which is the unknown before the beginning and the end of the day. In deliberation, we attempted at creating a space designed to accommodate a relaxing space for the users to truly indulge in the experience.” On note, CLD is expected to be applied to elevators in landmark buildings, including premium brand apartments, shopping malls, and outlet store buildings.

Moreover, Hyundai Elevator will also showcase a variety of “vertical e-mobility” technologies at the Expo, including a motion call that allows users to call an elevator and input destination floor without physical contact, “clean moving solution” appliances such as an air-touch and air-sterilizer, an automatic heap-filter air-conditioner/heater, a “connectivity system” that enables a last-mile delivery via elevator-robot linkage in cooperation with KT, Woowa Brothers, and LG Electronics, and last but not least, a smart display system that provides customized passenger information through face-recognition and elevator display linkage.
Song Seung-bong, CEO of Hyundai Elevator, said, “the IT convergence among the elevator industry is proceeding in great speed, and as the leading company of ‘vertical e-mobility’, Hyundai Elevator will continue to present more future-oriented elevators in the days to come.”
