Untact Elevator Call Button “Motion Call” Proves Popular in Korea & China

- High market interest in untact technology in public facilities due to COVID-19

The “Motion Call Button,” developed by Hyundai Elevator (CEO Song Seung-bong) to minimize contact in shared elevator space and reduce the dissemination of contaminants, has been receiving much attention after its successful adoption in Korea and China.

On the 10th, Hyundai Elevator stated that the “Motion Call Button” was installed immediately after its release in five elevators in the Hyundai Premium Outlet Space 1 (Namyangju, Gyeonggi-do), which opened its doors on November 6th. A Hyundai Elevator spokesperson stated that “the original plan had been to install ordinary elevator buttons, but Motion Call Buttons and touchless buttons were ultimately selected through active discussion with the client regarding COVID-19.”

The “Motion Call Button” also successfully made its first sale in the largest elevator market, China, and simultaneously took the first step towards overseas export. It was confirmed that the button would be installed in 20 elevators for the high-end New Star Apartments (新星公館) in Dalian’s East River International Trade District. They will undergo testing in China and be installed in early 2021.

The spokesperson stated that “interest in untact technology in elevators is on the rise from users, construction companies, and management authorities due to COVID-19.” The official went on to say that “untact technology such as Motion Call Buttons, touchless buttons, and “H-Mobile Thru” (a technology that uses the Bluetooth functionality of mobile phones to call elevators) is likely to become the “new normal” of the elevator industry.”
