Hyundai Elevator appoints Song Seung-bong as the new CEO

Hyundai Elevator announced its appointment of Vice President Song Seung-bong as the new CEO on the 11th with the approvals of the extraordinary general meeting and the board of directors.

Through an email sent to the employees, new CEO Song Seung-bong emphasized that members of Hyundai Elevator must “live today differently from yesterday and prepare for tomorrow in a different way from today in order to achieve the vision of becoming a global leader.” In addition, he identified three innovative challenges including △ securing global manufacturing competitiveness based on the smart factory being promoted simultaneously in Korea and China, △securing future competitiveness by introducing Fourth Industrial Revolution technology such as AI and big data, and △ strengthening profitability with a higher level of maintenance service such as the Before Service, and asked employees to “participate enthusiastically based on a positive and active mindset for the innovation of the company.”

Born in 1954, CEO Song graduated from the Department of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering at Pusan National University and received a master’s degree in Business Administration at the same institution. After working as the head of the Elevator Design Department at LG Industrial Systems, the head of the Service Business Division (Executive Director) at Otis Elevator, Executive Director of Technology at ThyssenKrupp Korea, and CEO of Hitachi Elevator Korea, CEO Song Seung-bong has served as the head of the Manufacturing / R&D / Future Innovation Division at Hyundai Elevator since March.
