Promotes Smart Factory to lead the Fourth Industrial Revolution in Chungju

- Constructed a 150,614㎡ new factory and logistics facility on the 5th Industrial Complex in Chungju, Chungcheongbuk-do

Hyundai Elevator (CEO Bob Jang) has announced the plan to relocate its headquarters and factories to the 5th Industrial Complex of Chungju (Chungju -si, Chungcheongbuk-do) on the 2nd.

The new factory of Hyundai Elevators is to be built on a site of 150,614㎡ (45,561 pyeong), and it will be a smart factory that utilizes Internet of Things (IoT) as well as big data technology to enable optimal production through efficient operation and real-time reflection of the market. The annual factory output is 25,000 vehicles. In addition, the existing logistics center (Cheonan-si, Chungcheongbuk-do) will be relocated to the new headquarters and integrated with the factory, a move that is expected to create a new form of synergy.

The Hyundai Elevator headquarters located in Icheon, Gyeonggi-do, has played a pivotal role in becoming one of the Global Top 7’s since its establishment in 1984. In particular, while global competitors that acquired Korean companies during the IMF period closed their factories and relocated their production base overseas, Hyundai Elevator adhered to domestic production policies and maintained its pride as a proud Korean company. However, the decision to relocate was confirmed as it became more difficult to establish an efficient production line due to the limited site, and because the main facilities began to deteriorate.

CEO Bob Jang said that Hyundai Elevator will “strengthen competitiveness by establishing a smart factory and integrating a production factory and logistics facility and establish its position as a leading company of the fourth Industrial Revolution in Chungcheongbuk-do.”
